About Us
Madison Traditional Academy (MTA) is the only preschool - 8th grade school in the Madison School District, serving just over 800 students. Due to the traditional philosophy, MTA was created as a "school of choice", and has no neighborhood boundaries. MTA accepts students based on the open enrollment policy of the Madison School District. Families must meet the behavior, attendance and family volunteer requirement to continue enrollment each year.
MTA's curriculum features teacher directed instruction, and incorporates Spalding phonics, Core Knowledge, Accelerated Reader and Reveal Math. All grade levels receive math instruction at a one year accelerated level. Kindergarten students at MTA begin with first grade math instruction. In addition, MTA has a uniform policy, mandatory family volunteer requirement and utilizes PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) as their character education and behavior education program.
All academics for Kindergarten are taught in the morning, with the afternoon being a fee based program, working with students on remediation and enrichment of skills. Kindergarten students, who participate in the paid afternoon program, also receive instruction in physical education, general music and art and also participate in the school lunch program.
Anyone wishing to attend Madison Traditional Academy must submit an open enrollment application to be eligible for the lottery.
